How to find e-books ?

Academic e-books are available through the catalogue www.a-z.lu.

To search for e-books, you can simply enter a title, author(s) or key-word in the search bar. In the list of results, you will see an ‘Online Access’ link for each title that is available electronically. You can also filter the results by selecting « Digital Library », followed by « E-books(all) », in order to see only e-books in your list of results.

What are the access conditions ?

Access to e-books is reserved for students and staff members of the University of Luxembourg.

How to use and read an e-book ?

The majority of e-books available through www.a-z.lu can be read directly in your web browser.

You can also download chapters of the e-books as PDF files.

For e-books that can be downloaded entirely, you’ll be asked to install Adobe Digital Editions in regards to the DRM (Digital Rights Management) protection of the e-books. After creating your Adobe ID, you’ll be able to download the e-book as EPUB files, which will be accessible on your electronic device for a limited amount of time.

Can I copy-paste or print the e-books ?

Generally, e-books can be printed or copy-pasted, but a page limit is set by the supplier.

The platform won’t let me download an e-book. Why ?

Depending on the supplier, only a certain number of copies can be downloaded simultaneously for each title.

In some cases, the e-books can only be accessed in parts or chapter by chapter.

Why do I need Adobe Digital Editions and an Adobe ID ?

The e-books are protected by the DRM (Digital Rights Management), which was created to secure the books’ copyright and to prevent piracy. Adobe Digital Editions is a program that allows you to access and read e-books that are protected by the DRM.

O'Reilly for Higher Education provides access to more than 38.000 digital books and more than 3.000 videos on topics ranging from programming to IT networking to project management to graphic design to business strategy.

Oxford Handbooks Online is an outstanding collection of the best Handbooks areas across many different subject areas. Overdrive ebooks is an American digital distributor of eBooks, audiobooks, music, and video titles. Currently (December 2015) you have access to more than 200 english ebooks and audiobooks (fiction and non-fiction) which you may download onto your computer, tablet or smartphone.
