Handy University Facts
Since its foundation in 2003, the University of Luxembourg has been managed by a Board of governors in charge of general University policies and strategies. The University has established itself as an internationally renowned research university, focusing on some of the most exciting fields of study today. To achieve this, we identified for 2018-2021 a select number of strategic research priorities of international importance, which are also closely linked to the realities of Luxembourg’s society and economy:

The mix of international excellence and regional relevance, as well as the proximity of European institutions, the Luxembourg financial centre and the attractive national job market, allows the University of Luxembourg to offer a unique framework to researchers and students alike across the three faculties and the three interdisciplinary centres:
- Faculty of Science, Technology and Communication;
- Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance;
- Faculty of Languages and Literature, Humanities, Arts and Education;
- Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT);
- Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB);
- Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C²DH).
Research units and centres bring together international teams of experts – some of whom hold endowed chairs – that work closely with scientists from all over the world.
Campus life is also international and multicultural: mobility is key with students coming from over 113 countries, exchange agreements with 354 universities have been set up – including the University of the Greater Region (UniGR) network –, and many degree programmes on offer are taught in French, English and/or German.
And because we think small is beautiful, we are proud to offer a personal atmosphere on our campuses where lecturers can give individual help.
