Elisabeth Epping holds a PhD position at the Institute of Political Science focussing on the interactions of science and foreign affairs also known as science diplomacy. To that end, she comparatively analyses science and innovation centres (SIC), a distinct and novel instrument in the science diplomacy toolbox, in Germany and Switzerland.
Before joining the University of Luxembourg in January 2017, she worked as a consultant for Higher Education Politics at the VDI/VDE-IT in Berlin, Germany. Her areas of expertise stretch from programs aiming to facilitate lifelong academic learning at German higher education institutions, to topics of career development of early researchers and the role of education and research in innovation policy. Another important aspect of her work included providing scientific support to the expert commission in charge of evaluating the German Exzellenzinitiative.
Prior to that, she worked as a Research Associate at the Center for Higher Education Policy Studies (CHEPS) at the University of Twente, the Netherlands (2010-2013). Her areas of study included quality assurance, lifelong learning, University ranking and profiling tools and processes of internationalization. Elisabeth studied European Studies at the Universities of Twente (the Netherlands) and Roskilde (Denmark) and holds a Bachelor Degree in European Studies as well as a Master Degree of Public Administration Master specializing on Higher Education Policy
