Member of the Language and Cognitive Development Group
About me
I am a Research Associate at the ECCS Research Unit.
I am a trained neuropsychologist in Brazil with expertise in assessing and working with children with specific learning difficulties and other neurodevelopmental disorders. I have a master's degree in developmental disorders from the Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie (Brazil) and I am in the process of completing a PhD in the field of developmental cognitive psychology at the Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP, Brazil). In my thesis I investigated the development of executive functions in young children in Brazil. I am also a member of the Education Committee at the Instituto ABCD (ABCD Institute), where I contribute towards designing material to educate teachers about the cognitive science of learning.
My research
I am interested in exploring how growing up in poverty can impact on a child’s cognitive and literacy development. I am also involved in training preschool teacher in the cognitive science of learning and in developing and implementing interventions at schools using RCT study designs.
I am a member of the research team working on the project "A Preschool Oral Language Intervention for Language-Minority Children: A Randomised Controlled Trial" (POLILux - PI Pascale Engle de Abreu).
