Mathilde Lamotte defended her PhD in April 2016 at Clermont University within the LAPSCO (Laboratoire de Psychologie Sociale et Cognitive, Clermont-Ferrand, France). During her PhD, her research focused on metacognition applied to time perception. Metacognition refers to individuals’ consciousness, beliefs and knowledge on their own cognitive abilities and on the metacognitive processes implied.

She developed a metacognitive questionnaire to assess conscious awareness of feeling of passage of time. She also tested the hypothesis of an effect of consciousness on temporal distortions with both correlational and causal experiments. She was also interested in the accuracy of metacognitive assessments of temporal performances. Furthermore, she also worked as a psychologist specialised in neuropsychology during her thesis.

Dr Lamotte is now working as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Gerontology and Psychology within Research Unit INSIDE, on the FEELSAFE project granted by University of Luxembourg, which is running from September 2016 until August 2018.
