The University of Luxembourg will participate in the 16th edition of the “Portes Ouvertes Luxembourg”.

The University’s laboratories on Kirchberg and Limpertsberg campus sites will be open on 18 September 2022 from 10.00 to 18.00.

All-day long, you will have the opportunity to explore scientific research, watch amazing experiences and impressive demos, exchange with top-level researchers and students.

On Kirchberg Campus, you will be able to interact with drones, discover 3D printing, interact with robots, immerse yourself in virtual reality, “walk on the Moon” and explore the space labs.

On Limpertsberg Campus, you will be able to explore the Physics and Engineering labs.

The Physics and Engineering Laboratories

The Physics labs are located at the University’s Limpertsberg Campus. A variety of fun and instructive workshops are planned. They range from building your own spectrometer and making solar cells to understanding how a laser works and seeing live phytoplankton – minuscule marine algae – under a microscope.

On the engineering side, the Kirchberg Campus will host workshops that will take you right into the future, featuring sessions with robots, virtual reality and laser manufacturing, among others.

• 360Lab: Sneak a peek at our self-driving car that our researchers use to make mobility smarter.
• Lunalab: Discover the LunaLab, a lab that simulates lunar conditions for testing the navigation of lunar robots.
• Zero-G Lab: Visit an environment without gravity! Our researchers test the movement of in-orbit robotics, satellites and other spacecraft in this lab.
• Aerolab: Experience a flight arena equipped with a motion capture system and a fleet of multicopters with onboard sensors, computers, and manipulators to research on motion planning and control for the autonomous navigation of aerial robots.
• SatComLab: See how researchers test algorithms in conditions that reflect the challenges and constraints of real-world communications platforms.
• CubeSatLab: Find out where students and researchers build and test CubeSats, nanosatellites measuring only 10 x 10 x 10 cm.
• Concurrent Design Facility (CDF): Discover the design centre where ideas for next generation of space missions and spacecrafts are transformed into reality.
