Skerdilajda Zanaj is an Associate Professor at the University of Luxembourg from 2011. She holds a PhD in Economics (2008) from CORE, University Catholique de Louvain in cotutelle with the Università degli Studi di Siena. Prior to joining the University of Luxembourg, she has been a Marie Curie Fellow at CORE, University Catholique de Louvain.
Skerdilajda Zanaj has quite a broad research agenda, bridging public and international economics, with theoretical and empirical methods. She employs game theoretical settings, develops models of open economies, and uses panel data sets (both micro and macro data) to better understand interactions among nation states, the strategic decisions of green and brown firms, or the decision-making of ethnically diverse groups. Her papers cover the areas of fiscal competition, fiscal federalism, migration, cultural norms and the environment, and gender. Her research generates insights that contribute to economic theory and provides policy recommendations in the area of public policy.
She teaches Microeconomics, Game Theory, Welfare Economics and Mathematics for Economists. Skerdilajda Zanaj has spent several research visits at Sophia University on Tokyo, University of Porto, Université Catholique de Louvain, or GATE-Saint Etienne, Lyon.
She is the Gender Equality Officer of the University of Luxembourg.
