Dr. Manolis Adamakis is a research associate at the Institute for Teaching and Learning. He is an expert in physical activity with the use of new technologies, and physical education. He has previously worked as a Lecturer in Physical Education and as a school placement tutor in the University College Cork (UCC), Ireland. Manolis’ research interests fall under the themes of School Physical Education and extra-curricular physical activity, Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) and professional development, and new technologies in physical activity.
He is currently coordinator and/or principal investigator in various projects (e.g., Active Wellcomm project, Made2Move: A Physical Activity Intervention with, for and by UCC Students) and has participated in 2 Erasmus+ Sport projects. Finally, Manolis is the Greek assistant national delegate in FIEP, member of the Leadership AIESEP Strategic Committee and of the FIEP Europe Special Committee for Interinstitutional Cooperation and Partnership. He has been awarded the FIEP Europe Thulin Award 2013 for the best young scholar in the field of Physical Education, and is a member of various editorial and reviewer boards in the field of physical education and physical activity.
