Enrica Pianaro joined the University of Luxembourg in October 2021 as a Research and Development Specialist. She will be working with Senior Lecturer Sylvie Kerger on a research project aimed at analysing representations of gender in secondary school books in Luxembourg.

Enrica is a sociologist specialised in Gender Studies and Social Policies, and for the past 10 years has been working on various projects promoting women's rights and the legal and social recognition of sexual & gender minorities. She participated in grass-root movements as well as in institutional processes dedicated to promoting gender equality and anti-discrimination. Until 2020, Enrica worked in the LGBTIQ+ Centre CIGALE where she coordinated various projects like e.g., promoting health of sexual minority women, supporting LGBTIQ+ refugees & asylum seekers or implementing trainings on sexual & gender diversity.

Enrica teaches two courses at the university, one in the BSSE titled “Diversité sexuelle et de genre dans le travail social”; the other in the BCE titled “LGBTIQ+ History and Culture”. The rest of the time will be dedicated to her doctoral research on LGBT and feminist movements in Luxembourg, which she's doing at Brussels University.
