6 juillet 2010 - Doing Identity : présentation des résultats du projet IDENT

La conférence intitulée « Doing Identity au Luxembourg: Appropriations subjectives – attributions institutionnelles – milieux socio-culturels » aura lieu le 6 juillet 2010 du 9h00 à 18h00 dans l’Abbaye de Neumünster à Luxembourg-Ville. La conférence se focalise sur les identités au Luxembourg. « Doing Identity au Luxembourg » est destinée à offrir une plateforme permettant de discuter, de manière critique, avec des experts et le public intéressé, des résultats obtenus dans le cadre du projet de recherche IDENT. Les résultats du projet IDENT paraîtront au mois de juillet dans la maison d’édition « transcript ». Le livre intitulé « Doing Identity in Luxemburg: Subjektive Aneignungen – institutionelle Zuschreibungen – sozio-kulturelle Milieus » donne un aperçu d’une société peu explorée et des constructions d’identité dans un contexte de globalisation. L’équipe interdisciplinaire des auteur-e-s y met en relief des processus subjectifs d’appropriation et des processus institutionnels de projection dans les domaines différents : « langues », « espaces », « cultures du quotidien » et « auto- et hétéroimages ». En outre, les auteur-e-s font ressortir les différents milieux socio-culturels au Luxembourg à partir des données empiriques. Le livre paraîtra également en langue française et anglaise. December 15th – Internal Workshop

This internal workshop focussed on the retrospective of 2009 as well as on the results about the socio-cultural milieus. The profiles of the milieus and their visual representation were discussed.

October 20th and 21th – two-day internal meeting

During the two-day internal meeting, the researchers involved in the different working groups of the IDENT research project presented their results and enhanced thematic and theoretical common points. These will be integrated – along with the first-time presentation of the descriptive profiles of the socio-cultural milieus – in the project’s further development.

September 28th 2009 – Internal Workshop

The IDENT project team met in order find an agreement on the timing of the remaining steps of the project, to discuss the final publication of the research results and to prepare the two-day meeting in October, during which the empirical results to be published will be discussed internally.

September 15th 2009 – Second Interpretation Workshop “Socio-cultural milieus”

Michael Vester and Daniel Gardemin, external advisers of the research project, presented their extended statistical calculations in order to specify the socio-cultural milieus in Luxembourg. These results were discussed and enhanced in common; they will be developped shortly by the work circle in charge.

 

June 29th, 2009 - Internal workshop

The IDENT project group met for a second time in order to take stock of the work accomplished so far. The members of the different working groups presented their results during this four hour workshop and they discussed methodical and empirical issues.

 

May 26th 2009 – Workshop “Socio-cultural milieus”

The project partners met the external advisers Daniel Gardemin and Michael Vester in order to discuss the first results of the statistical survey about the socio-cultural milieus, carried out among the resident population in Luxembourg using a standardized questionnaire.

 

April 23rd 2009 – meeting fort he encoding of qualitative data

On April 23rd, the project group met in order to encode the previously conducted interviews with a software of qualitative data analysis. The stage of encoding the qualitative empirical corpus is essential for further research activities within the project.

April 2009 – software training sessions

In April 2009, two internal training sessions were held in order to improve knowledge and practice of a qualitative data analysis software.

 

March 31th, 2009 - Internal workshop

The project group met on 31th March to extend the conceptual basis of the current research activities via the shared reading of a relevant theoretical text. Addititonally, the results of the quantitative survey were presented and discussed for the first time.

February 17th, 2009 - Internal workshop

On 17th February, the IDENT-project members met for the planning of the time frame for 2009 and further interdisciplinary cooperation.

 

January 21st to 23rd - Internationale Conference: IDENT 1 - Identités socio-culturelles: Interaction et représentation

From January 21st to 23rd, an international conference was organised by the IDENT project team. As a complement to the empirical and multi-methodological research carried out by the IDENT-members, the conference’s aim was to provide a critical overview on « identities », focussing on definitions, useful concepts and current debates – discussed in a transdisciplinary and international perspective.

The updated project flyer summarises the methodology and objectives of IDENT in german and french.

December 9th, 2008 - Software training course

On December 9th, we organised a one-day training course on the computer-based analysis of qualitative data. The invited speaker demonstrated its potential usage in a praxis-oriented way and suggested some possibilities fpr cooperating which are built into the the software that might prove useful for the research project team.

November 18th, 2008 - Internal workshop

On 18th November, the IDENT project-team met in order to take stock of the work realised so far on a methodological, empirical and theoretical level. The further development of the research project for 2009 has been approved.

October 29th, 2008 - Job advertisement

For the further development of research tasks within the project, we are currently recruiting several external collaborators.

September 16th, 2008 - Internal workshop

The internal workshop on the 16th September 2008, marked the resumption of research within the framework of the IDENT-project following the summer break. The next step of the empirical investigation, i.e. the qualitative enquiry, was planned and structured. Furthermore, the conference « IDENT 1 », scheduled for January 2009, was set up in more detail.

 

June 10th, 2008 - Internal workshop

On 10th June 2008, the six interdisciplinary work groups presented for the first time their work in progress – on both the methodological and the conceptuel level – to the entire project group. Aditionnally, they agreed on further development of the research agenda.

May 27th, 2008 - Roundtable discussion

The IDENT project-team welcomed the external advisor Jean-Marie Klinkenberg from the University of Liège. This semiotician, who is internationally renowned among the international scientific community, presented a paper on his research in the domain of cognitive semiotics, which is closely intertwined with issues of identity. Within the framework of this conference, concepts and processes of identity-construction were broadened and as a result suggestions of new perspectives were integrated in the IDENT-project.

April 15th, 2008 - Internal workshop

On 15th April 2008, the IDENT-project members met for a methodological presentation of interview techniques, as well as for a discussion about their further interdisciplinary collaboration. They agreed on the core thematic empirical investigations.

March 13th, 2008 - Internal workshop

On 13th March 2008, the IDENT-project members met for a presentation and discussion about different discourse analysis approaches. The new staff member, Rachel Reckinger, offered a survey of her research work and of methodic and conceptual links to the IDENT-project.

February 26th, 2008 - Internal workshop

On December 26th, 2008 the project partners met to discuss the possibilities of cooperation in the fields of museal practices and contemporary art in Luxembourg.

December 11th, 2007 - Internal workshop

On December 11th, 2007 the project partners met to discuss the possibilities of cooperation in the fields of ‘spatial semiotics and ‘collective symbols’. Subsequent to the presentations it turned out that both fields offer several starting points for interdisciplinary cooperation in the project context.

November 22nd, 2007 - Internal workshop

On November 22nd, 2007 the project partners met on the occasion of the second internal workshop. The debate focused on identity-related key concepts of gender studies and social structure analysis.

September 19th, 2007 - Roundtable discussion

In September 2007 a second roundtable discussion with one of our external advisors took place. Prof. Dr. Jürgen Pohl, University of Bonn, was invited to present his research on regional identities. Against this background, our project conception was critically discussed and could be enriched with valuable suggestions.

September 17th, 2007 - Internal workshop

On September 17th, 2007 an internal workshop with all participating partners was held. On this occasion, the future course of the project was agreed upon and the next steps were scheduled

July 10th, 2007 - Roundtable discussion

In July 2007 our first roundtable discussion with one of our external advisors took place. Prof. Dr. Michael Vester, University of Hannover (agis), was invited to report on his works in the field of milieu research, which were then discussed with regard to their implementation into our own project design.
