National Contact Point Mission
- Following a joint proposal submitted to the FNR by Andreas Michels, Associate Professor from the University of Luxembourg and Jens Kreisel, Professor at the LIST, a National Contact Point (NCP) for Large Scale Research Instruments (LSRIs) was created.
- The project aims to establish the use of LSRIs in the Luxembourgish materials science and related sectors in order to increase Luxembourg's excellence of research, international visibility and competitiveness through the creation of knowledge and intellectual property.
- LSRFs provide access to outstanding scientific instruments that require specific infrastructure. The most relevant LSRFs use synchrotron or neutron scattering allowing access through the various possible experiments to an extraordinary range of information: from the 3D atomic structure of proteins to the strain/stress mapping of aircrafts parts.
