The Computer Vision, Imaging & Machine Intelligence Research Group (CVI²) is launching the SHARP2021 challenge for this year's CVPR conference. The CVRP is the premier annual computer vision event and brings together students, academics and industry researchers. It will be held virtually from 19 - 25 June 2021. The team headed by Dr. Djamila Aouada have organised the challenge as part of CVI²’s research on image processing and computer vision, with the support of the sponsor Artec 3D.

The SHApe Recovery from Partial textured 3D scans (SHARP) challenge aims at reconstructing full 3D objects with shape and texture. This is because research in the past few years has focused on recovering only the geometry of 3D shapes. There are three sub challenges where contestants have to reconstruct full high-resolution 3D meshes from partial or noisy 3D scans. The challenge is complimented with a workshop which aims to promote concepts that exploit both shape and texture in the processing of 3D scans in general, with a special attention to the specific task of recovery from partial and noisy data.

The SHARP Challenge is sponsored by Artec 3D, a company specializing in 3D sensing and processing and face recognition.

Registrations for the challenge close on 22 February 2021 and the winners will be announced in June 2021. An overall 9,000€ will be awarded as cash prizes to the winners.
