Basic barrier gestures and safety measures

  • Stay at home if you do not feel well or if you show any symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Wash your hands with soap regularly during the day, particularly before and after meals. Disinfect your hands regularly with hydroalcoholic gel provided all over campus.

  • Greet without shaking hands.
  • Covering your nose and mouth with a mask, scarf or bandana is mandatory at all times during the event.

Social distancing

What are the sanitary rules during the Welcome Day?

In order to participate, you will have to present a CovidCheck certificate (digital or paper):

  • COVID-19 vaccination certificate (complete vaccination schedule)
  • Certificate of a valid negative COVID-19 test (Certified PCR test or Certified Antigen test):
  • Certified PCR test performed less than 72 hours beforehand
  • Certified antigen test performed less than 48 hours beforehand

No masks have to be worn in the catering areas. For all other areas, wearing a mask and social distancing are mandatory.

Is it possible to do self-tests during the Welcome Day?

Yes, you have the opportunity to obtain a free certified test on Belval Campus during the Welcome Day. Please take into consideration that there might be waiting lines.

Is it possible to get vaccinated during the Welcome Day?

Yes, a "vaccination-bus", provided by the ministry of Health, will be present at Belval campus. You will not need an appointment. The bus will be open from 8.30 to 15.00 at avenue des Hauts-Fourneaux. To get a vaccination here, you will not need an affiliation number with the Luxembourg social security (which you may not have yet). Please make sure to bring your passport or ID card.

What do I do if I am vaccinated with a vaccine that is not authorised in the European Union?

For the Welcome Day, you will be asked to do a self-test on campus.

If you have been vaccinated in the past with a COVID-19 vaccine that is not recognised by the European Medicines Agency, you will have to do a full vaccine schedule again (only mRNA Vaccines, Pfizer or Moderna).

Please bring along your original vaccine certificate to present to the Authorities.

What happens if I am vaccinated with an authorised vaccine outside the European Union?

You will be granted access to the Welcome Day without being asked to do a self-test on campus.

However, you will have to contact the COVID-19 hotline (+352) 247-655 33 in order to be added to the register of the European Union.

What should I do when I start to feel unwell during the Welcome Day?

Please address a safety officer from Dussmann Security. They will inform you on the next steps.

Do I need to wear a mask?

Yes, unless stated otherwise in compliance with the CovidCheck system, you are required to wear a mask for the entire duration of your campus visit. You can take off the mask while seated during your meal at lunch.

Will the University provide me with a mask?

No, each visitor is required to bring their own mask.

Do I need to bring my own hydroalcoholic gel?

Hydroalcoholic gel will be available at the entrance of each University building and at the food locations. You are required to use it before entering any building or before ordering your lunch.

Will the restrooms be accessible and will they be disinfected on a regular basis?

Yes, our staff will disinfect the restrooms regularly during the day with appropriate cleaning products.

Given the social distancing rules, will I be able to visit all services/institutions on Belval Campus and receive all information in one day?

To ensure social distancing, the number of information stands on site had to be reduced. Apart from the few stands on site on the Welcome Day itself, the different services that will not be present that day will be on campus to meet you during a dedicated time slot within the two weeks after the Welcome Day in the Foyer of the Maison du Savoir.

Promotional and information material of all stands as well as the schedule on when you will be able to meet which service in person can be found on the dedicated page.

How will the University make sure that all safety and sanitary measures are respected during lunch?

At the registration desks, the new students will receive a wristband (depending on the food location). To each colour, one specific lunch location is allocated. You will only be able to get lunch in the area designated to your bracelet colour. Each location has enough seats to ensure that the safety and sanitary rules are respected at all times. The number of seats is limited to 5 people per table and you will need to remain seated during your meal.
