Bachelor en Enseignement Musical

The Bachelor in Music Teaching is aimed at students who are passionate about music and wish to teach in a formal (e.g., conservatoires, music school) or non-formal (e.g., childcare, elderly home) educational context in Luxembourg or beyond.

The Bachelor in Music Education of the University of Luxembourg is dedicated to training Music Teachers of the 21st  Century, pursuing the development of

  • high standard musical, educational, and academic skills
  • entrepreneurial skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, taking initiative, and communication,
  • humanistic values such as diversity, inclusion, and equity,

and valuing both tradition and innovation.

Based on an integrated programme of practical and academic courses – established through a tight collaboration between the University of Luxembourg and the three Luxembourgish Conservatoires – the Bachelor in Music Education is a nurturing space for innovative quality teachers. Its curriculum encourages students to pursue high standards and become intellectually curious, socially conscious, and musically versatile educators in a variety of classroom settings.

The programme prepares its students for teaching in formal (e.g., conservatoires, music school) or non-formal (e.g., childcare, elderly home) educational contexts in Luxembourg and beyond.

Admission requirements

  • hold a Luxembourg secondary school diploma, or a foreign diploma recognised as equivalent to the Luxembourgish diploma.
  • language skills: English level C1, oral comprehension and expression of the three official languages of Luxembourg (Lëtzebuergësch, French and German) is an advantage.
  • musical skills: depending on the course of study specialisation (instrumental/vocal, solfège, early childhood music education), candidates must submit a file containing diplomas, certificates, or other proof of achievement. In the absence of the required diplomas, candidates will have the possibility to present themselves during an audition and a written exam.
