Master in Learning and Communication in Multilingual and Multicultural Contexts
Application requirements
Candidates are expected to have an excellent BA degree in educational or social sciences, psychology or any (inter-)disciplinary field related to education, learning, language studies or socio-cultural issues.
This MA being a multilingual programme there are specific requirements for the command and learning of languages:
- Students' English need to be functional for academic use (reading, discussing, writing) C1 level (Cadre Européen Commun de Référence pour les Langues).
- Either French or German is required as a second working language, B2 level.
- The MA provides you with a setting helping you to improve your language skills in terms of scientific writing, presentations, and working in, on and with multilingual situations. Furthermore, the special mentoring system used throughout the MA supports you in improving your language skills, especially in the third language in use in the programme, the one you might be less or not acquainted with in the beginning.
Application procedure
The administrative admission at the University of Luxembourg is centralised and managed by the office of student department (SEVE) . The dossier you have to send to the SEVE is your administrative dossier upon which the formal admissibility check will be based (i.e. whether you fulfill fully or partly the formal admission requirements).
The application includes a letter of motivation of 2 pages addressing the following questions:
- Why would you like to attend this Master? What do you expect from it? What do you hope to do with your diploma once you graduate?
- How does this Master fit with your past experience and expertise?
- What is your language expertise and how was it gained? How do you plan to cope with the trilingualism of the program?
- Why are you interested in studying in Luxembourg?
- In the field of multilingualism and multiculturalism, what are important research topics you would like to investigate. Write at least two paragraphs describing a possible research project.
