Science Workshops

The science workshops of approximately 15 minutes take place on 29 March 2022 from 16:00 - 19:00 in the Learning Hub at the second floor of the Luxembourg Learning Centre. Just walk up the stairs and then go straight ahead to the room behind glass walls. The workshops are offered for free and without prior registration. The workshops will be held under CovidCheck. Workshops are offered about the following topics:

  • Immune system (by Kartikeya Singh, in English)

Get-to-know the immune system by trying out different signals to activate specific immune cells. Will you find the right combination?

  • Fluid dynamics (by Marix-Alix Dalle, in French and English)

Learn how trees drink by trying out surface tension and capillary pumping: Try to make water go from one cup to another without carrying it!

  • Brain organoids (by Daniela Vega Gutiérrez, in English, Spanish translation can be provided)

Understand the utility of mini brains via a role-playing game: You get to play your favorite brain cell!

LUX:plorations is supported by the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) and was made possible thanks to the Doctoral School in Science and Engineering (DSSE) of the University of Luxembourg. The exhibition is possible thanks to the support of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM). The comics were produced under the lead of DESCOM, which is supported by the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR). DESCOM aims to support interactions between academia and the public by providing different modes of training in science communication as well as organising and supporting outreach activities. The workshops were produced under supervision by the Luxembourg Science Center and funded by the DSSE.
