Master of Science in Physics

This Master of Science in Physics at the University of Luxembourg enables students to acquire a solid and broad education in condensed-matter and materials physics. The goal is to explain and predict the physical properties of materials, e.g., semiconductors, magnetic materials and liquid crystals, based on their microscopic constituents.

Our offer

Solid education in theoretical and experimental physics will help you foster autonomous scientific work and build up problem-solving capacities. You will be introduced to current research topics during the four semesters of the masters. The first year consists of lectures, seminars, and laboratory classes, whereas the complete second year is exclusively spend on your research project. You will carry out your research thesis in one of the four clusters of the Physics and Materials Science Research Unit:

  • Magnetic and Multiferroic Materials
  • Soft and Living Matter
  • Photovoltaics and Semiconductor Physics
  • Theory and Materials Modelling

You will be covering the full spectrum of condensed matter physics in a modern and international research environment. Choose your career and study physics in Luxembourg just like Daniel did!

Why study physics in Luxembourg?

Hands-on training in small groups is at the heart of our offer in physics. You will have the opportunity to interact in real time with other students and academics.

You will be studying physics in English at the University of Luxembourg. And you can also further fine tune your language skills taking a semester at partner universities in Germany and/or France to become a binational physics graduate and registering at the University of Luxembourg Language Centre.

Expert academics and industry professionals are by your side from the start to help you find the internship meeting your expectations.

Great career perspectives: pick and choose!

Our training is open to those interested in understanding existing novel materials, developing new ones or teaching physics. Check testimonials on the Masters and the science jobs & teaching positions available.
