By generating high levels of economic activity and providing employment to millions of workers around the world, the textile sector has a potential to contribute to social and economic development. At the same time, the textile sector has been at the centre of criticism due to poor working conditions and human rights issues in global value chains.

During this conference, experts from academia, civil society, and business will provide insights into the challenges that exist, and discuss policies and practises to improve social protection in the workplace and to eliminate forced labour from global value chains in the textile industry.
