Developed by ILNAS, the University of Luxembourg and the Luxembourg Lifelong Learning Center (LLLC) of the Chambre des salariés (CSL), the new Master “Technopreneurship: Mastering smart ICT, standardisation and digital trust for enabling next generation of ICT solutions” (MTECH), which will consist in a two-year part-time programme, will enable students to transfer, via their internship in collaboration with a company, smart secure ICT knowledge directly into technical innovation, using the competitive and innovative tool of technical standardisation.

Master MTECH: the result of a fruitful collaboration between the academic, research and technical standardisation communities

Since 2013, ILNAS and the University of Luxembourg have built this innovative programme on the results of their joint developments and achievements, in particular, the university certificate “Smart ICT for Business Innovation” (2015-2016/2018-2019) and the research programme “Technical Standardisation for Trusted Use in the Field of Smart ICT” (2017-2020). The academic content of the Master and the selection of speakers are under their responsibility, while the Luxembourg Lifelong Learning Center (LLLC), the training department of the Chambre des salariés (CSL), is in charge of marketing and the required administrative and logistical support.

The Master in Technopreneurship will act as a catalyst for growth and innovation in the ICT industry, by preparing its students for the market of tomorrow. It will provide students with a knowledge base related to current issues and new developments in the field of smart ICT, such as cloud computing, the Internet of Things, big data, artificial intelligence, blockchains and distributed ledger technologies (DLT), while addressing and measuring the challenges related to these technologies in terms of digital trust (smart secure ICT). This knowledge, combined with the concept of Technopreneurship and the latest advances in technical standardisation in the ICT sector, will enable students to develop a prospective view on future technologies. The courses will include practical applications and case studies applied to the use of standardisation as a source of effectiveness and growth.

This Master’s programme is supported by the Ministry of the Economy and the European standardisation organisations, namely the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC), as well as the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI).
