On July 10, 2019, Culture Minister Sam Tanson, the President of the Governing Council of the University of Luxembourg, Yves Elsen, the Director of the National Library (BnL), Monique Kieffer, and the Rector of the University of Luxembourg, Stéphane Pallage, have signed a framework convention between the National Library and the University.

The agreement broadens existing cooperation between the University and the BnL. It defines the future cooperation between the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance (FDEF) and the National Library (BnL) and regulates the modalities of the cooperation between the National Library and the University Library, the Luxembourg Learning Center (LLC).

Cooperation between the National Library and the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance

The framework agreement defines how the BnL will support FDEF students, teachers and researchers from the Luxembourg Kirchberg and Limpertsberg sites. In particular, it stipulates the development of physical and digital collections, and the management and access to literature to meet the future needs of members of the University, the FDEF and users of the BnL.

The convention brings together in a single agreement the collaborations that have developed over the years between the BnL and the University (the common catalog a-z.lu, joint purchase of electronic literature – a current offer of 77,800 e-journals titles, 620,000 e-books and 390 databases, synergies in Open Access policy for publications, etc.).

Furthermore, the agreement foresees the creation of an international loan service within the LLC and the establishment of a loan service between the BnL and LLC in the interest of all of their respective users.
