The recent explosive increase of positive COVID-19 cases in the wider population is of great concern to the University. Luxembourg registered more than 3,000 positive cases in the week of 19 October, roughly three times the level of the prior week. The virus’ high prevalence in the general population is now also increasingly reflected in the University community. As of 26 October, the University counted 46 active infections.

To ensure the safety and security of the members of the University community:

  • the University has decided to switch all study programmes to remote teaching for one month effective Tuesday 27 October. Lab work, pratical work (travaux pratiques) and mid-term exams can nevertheless take place in the format that was originally planned;
  • the University recommends to work remotely for one month to all staff members whose work allows to do so, in order to minimise the number of employees on site and to further reduce the risk of infections.
