The University of Luxembourg has appointed Philippe Wisler acting Director of Administration and Finance from 1 September 2022. This appointment follows the decision of Dr Erica Monfardini to resign from her position as Director of Administration and Finance with effect from 31 August 2022.

Philippe Wisler served as secretary-general of various French universities for twenty years — successively the University of Le Mans, Jean Monnet University in Saint-Étienne, Joseph Fourier University in Grenoble, the French National Institute for Educational Research (INRP) and the École Centrale de Lyon. Since retiring he has continued to work as an expert consultant for academic institutions and has also served as acting head of a university faculty.

Philippe Wisler is a law graduate with a postgraduate degree (DESS) in local authority administration and management from the University of Strasbourg. He was born in Mulhouse, France.

The appointment of Philippe Wisler will provide continuity in the University’s administrative and financial services while also enabling the incoming Rector to prepare a smooth handover to the new permanent Director of Administration and Finance in 2023.
