The Board of Governors of the University of Luxembourg appointed on 12 May 2023 Prof. Yves Le Traon as the new Director of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT).

The mandate will take effect on 1 January 2024, for a five-year term. The appointment is the result of an international call for candidates, the work of a recruitment committee, and the consultation of professors of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT).

Prof. Le Traon will take over from Prof. Björn Ottersten, the founding director of this interdisciplinary research centre of the University, whose third term of office expires on 31 December 2023.

Founded in 2009, the SnT has developed into an internationally recognised research centre of excellence generating significant advances in information and communication technologies (ICT) for the benefit of the economy and society.

Deputy Director of the SnT since 2020, Yves Le Traon joined the University of Luxembourg in 2009 and was Head of the Department of Computer Science at the University from 2013 to 2016. Yves Le Traon began his scientific career with a PhD in computer science at the “Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble” in 1997 and continued his research in software engineering in Rennes. An internationally recognised scientist, his scientific activity is based on collaborations with other research institutions and industrial partners. Prof. Le Traon also brings an in-depth knowledge of the University, the SnT and the Luxembourg context.

I am pleased and proud that the recruitment committee, composed of international experts, has chosen a professor from the University of Luxembourg among the excellent applications received,” said Rector Prof. Le Traon will give a new impulse to the SnT, while ensuring the continuation of the ambitions of this interdisciplinary centre which, under the leadership of Prof. Ottersten, has been able to position itself as one of the University’s great successes.. “Jens Kreisel
