On Friday 25 October 2019, TEDxUniversityofLuxembourg returns to Belval campus for its second edition. An outstanding group of speakers and performers will explore this year’s theme of “Rewiring our future”.

TEDx brings to the stage a roster of physicists, biologists, architects, historians, psychologists, environmentalists, as well as musicians and dancers among others. Unique in their style and philosophy, they will share their personal take on who we are as individuals and as a society, on transformative processes of the past and present and how technology and traditions can enrich our future. “Imagine being part of making the future more pleasant, more intelligent, more compassionate, and more sustainable – for everyone”, emphasises Robert Reuter, senior lecturer at the University of Luxembourg and TEDx licence holder. “Isn’t that what evolution is all about?”

”A TEDx talk is more and less than a conference talk”, explains Prof. Jan Lagerwall, who organised the first TEDx at the University in 2018. “It is shorter, typically just about 10 minutes, but more in terms of what the audience takes away from the talk.” The 11 insightful talks will be complemented by performances of three artists. The full programme is available on www.tedxuniversityofluxembourg.com.

Building on previous success

The TEDx UniversityofLuxembourg event is organised by University staff, PhD candidates and students. Following a successful first edition in 2018, the organising team decided to remain true to the University’s international character, bringing together students and researchers with external entrepreneurs. “We are extremely fortunate to have great minds clustered closely around us and we are happy to make this event a melting pot of ideas and cultures,” says Harris Lygidakis, co-organiser and doctoral candidate at the University.
