The University of Luxembourg has just joined IMS (Inspiring More Sustainability), the leading network of Luxembourg companies and organisations committed to corporate social responsibility (CSR).

For more than 10 years, the mission of IMS has been to support its members in developing or improving their practices from a social, environmental or economic point of view. IMS explores new solutions and concretely tests sustainable alternatives, through working groups and pilot projects with positive impacts. Through these projects, IMS facilitates innovative initiatives by mobilising all stakeholders (private, public and associations).

IMS is an independent, non-political and non-profit organisation that benefits from the expertise of an agile and creative team. The network represents 16% of the Luxembourg payroll and is the national representative of the European organisation CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Europe, the European leader for corporate social responsibility, which brings together more than 10,000 members committed to environmental and social responsibility.

IMS projects address these different issues:

  • People: inclusion and diversity, well-being at work, community involvement, youth, business and human rights
  • Planet: tackling against climate change, natural resources and biodiversity, towards zero waste
  • Prosperity: responsible production and consumption, new economic approaches, social and solidarity economy, transparency and reporting.

Numerous Benefits

The membership in the IMS network will allow the University of Luxembourg to:

  • Connect its community and activities with the members of the network to develop partnerships and common actions in favor of sustainable development
  • Enable its researchers to interact with member companies or organisations, active in sustainable development, and thus strengthen the local impact of its research and innovation activities
  • Put these same companies and organisations in contact with its students, who are key players in the ecological and societal transition
  • Interact with all sustainable development players in the region and on a European scale
  • Participate in thematic or territorial groups on sustainable innovation (mobility, circular economy, social welfare) and test sustainable alternatives through pilot projects
  • Access numerous dedicated tools and best practices in corporate social responsibility.

The University of Luxembourg – a committed player in sustainable development

This membership is part of the University of Luxembourg’s proactive policy on sustainable development, which is reflected in the integration of social responsibility into the interdisciplinary teaching and research programmes of the University’s three faculties and various centres.

The various interdisciplinary approaches aimed at contributing to the emergence of sustainable solutions to the environmental, energetic, climatic and socio-economic changes that our societies are going through, concern in particular the fields of transport/mobility, digitalisation, health economics, ecological economics, economic geography, socio-economic and demographic studies and green ICT.

The University of Luxembourg thereby strives, in line with its three missions of teaching, research, and community engagement, to integrate the impacts of its operations into its social and environmental approach. By taking these issues into account in its administration and operational activities, this ongoing initiative aims to make the University of Luxembourg a role model as a sustainable and responsible university.
