University in excellent 4th position among the world’s millennial universities

The University of Luxembourg ranks 12th in the Times Higher Education , moving up from position 17 in 2019 and returning to the ranking held in 2018.

The Times Higher Education Young University Ranking lists the world’s best universities that are less than 50 years old.  The 2020 ranking includes 414 universities, up from 351 in 2019. The ranking is based on the results of the Times Higher Education World University rankings, using weightings that are adjusted to fit the characteristics of younger universities.

In the subcategory of the “millennial” universities (founded since the year 2000), the University of Luxembourg consolidates its excellent 4th position out of 88 universities worldwide.

“We are proud of the fact that the University of Luxembourg has consistently been listed among the top 20 young universities worldwide by Times Higher Education over the past years,” states Prof Stéphane Pallage, rector of the University. “It reflects the common efforts of all those who, in research and teaching, strive to further extend and develop the impact of our institution.”

The 2020 ranking is based on data from 2017 and reflects underlying developments in the key performance indicators that form the basis of the listing: the University scores better on teaching, research and industry income while maintaining a close to maximum score on its international outlook as well as a high score on citations.
