Video on Convivial Robotic Healthcare: Improving Patients' Autonomy
Published on Friday, 17 October 2014
SnT scientist Dr Patrice Caire and her colleagues are developing convivial healthcare systems to improve patients' autonomy by using cute robots as caretakers.
These robots can autonomously call for help, for example, a health care center or within the neighborhood, if they detect an accident. To make these systems secure in terms of privacy and reliable is one thing. Another important factor is conviviality, trusting the system and accepting a humanoid robot who is monitoring your behavior in your private home. Particularly, elderly people who could most benefit from such systems, might be reluctant. Therefore, especially user-friendly robots were recruited to be the interface between users and their smart homes. - - - |
