Adjunct teachers for English

Paul Higgins

Paul Higgins has worked in several sectors of both education and commerce, for which he has experienced living in four different European countries. After obtaining his bachelor’s degree, he worked for several years before returning to study at Oxford Brookes University and the University of the West of England (affiliated with Bristol Business School) where he obtained his Master’s in European Business. In parallel to these studies, he has been involved in English teaching for more than 20 years, starting in Oxford and subsequently Finland, working for various language schools. Later he obtained the Licentiate Diploma in English teaching (DipTESOL) with a particular focus on task-based learning and issues in cross-cultural teaching with East-Asian students. He has worked for the last 10 years on pre-sessional courses (EAP) at the University of Birmingham for students wishing to study Master’s courses at the university and prepare them to achieve the language requirements, particularly for the Business School.In his commercial working life, he has worked in marketing for the University of Essex, four years in banking in Luxembourg, translator from German to English in Switzerland, amongst other commercial and technical roles.
