Pierre Dupong

Pierre Dupong

Pierre Dupong was Prime Minister of Luxembourg during World War II.

On the eve of the German invasion of the Grand Duchy in 1940, he decided to leave with his government into exile to lead the resistance against the Nazi regime in Luxembourg from abroad.

Grand Duchess Charlotte followed the government, first to France, then Portugal and Canada, and eventually moved to London to the headquarters of the allies.

Pierre Dupong died in 1953, during his last term as Head of Government of the Grand Duchy.
