The Grand Ducal family
The Grand Ducal familyHenri succeeded his father Jean on 7 October 2000. The Grand Duke is the sixth sovereign of Luxembourg since the crown of the Grand Duchy was taken by the Nassau Weilburg House. Indeed, having no male successor, Grand Duke William III of the Netherlands had to give the Grand Duchy to his cousin, Duke Adolf of Nassau Weilburg, in 1890. Since then, Luxembourg has had its true dynasty. Adolf of Nassau Weilburg was succeeded by the Grand Duke Guillaume IV, Grand Duchess Marie-Adélaïde, Grand Duchess Charlotte, Grand Duke Jean. The Grand Duke and Grand Duchess have five children:
They have three grandchildren from the union of Prince Louis and Princess Tessy of Luxembourg, Prince Gabriel and Prince Noah, and the union of Prince Felix and Princess Claire, Princess Amalia. - - - |
